Reader A Reading from Paul’s letter to the Romans
Brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh– for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ– if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.

Administration of Communion
At the time of communion, you are invited to come forward and receive the bread and wine. The priest will place a wafer in your hand. You may then receive wine either by direct consumption from a chalice (Common Cup), or you may give the wafer to the Eucharistic minister who will dip the wafer in the wine and place the wafer on your tongue. You may also still come forward to receive a blessing. Simply cross your arms over your chest before the priest for the blessing. After receiving communion or a blessing, you may return to your seat.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, we’ll celebrate the Rev. Alicia Alexis and her time with St. Titus’ as our Interim Rector for the past fourteen months. Please plan on joining us to thank Rev. Alicia for her dedicated service. A coffee hour will follow both services that day.
Rev. Alicia will be out of the office July 23-27, attending Annual Business Meeting and Conference of the Union of Black Episcopalians in Montgomery, Alabama.
Come join us on Monday, July 31, 2023 via Zoom at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm to meet and greet Betsy Sprouse, our new Parish Administrator. Betsy started on Monday, July 10 and is doing a fantastic job at being part of the team. The Zoom invitation will be sent out later this week.

Rector Search Update: The rector search committee has completed the vetting process under the guidelines of the Office of Transition Ministry and the NC Diocese. We will submit a name to the vestry on July 16th. The vestry will have an opportunity for a discernment meeting before we call a vote. After, our Senior Warden Cheryl Myers, Bishop Sam, and the vestry will work on a contract of mutual ministry. Once that process is completed, we will be prepared to make an announcement to the congregation in August. Thank you for your support and we ask that you continue to pray for our new priest.
